Four Junction City High School students have qualified for the 2024 National LifeSmarts Championship in San Diego, Calif.
It was an amazing Wednesday for the Junction City High School, H.D. Karns, Junction City Middle School and Fort Riley Middle School JAG-K programs at the JAG-K State Career Development Conference in Hays as they qualified a total of 11 students for the National Career Development Conference.
Fourth-grade students from Jordan Tabares and Katie Lytle's classes at Lincoln Elementary School recently showcased their creativity by crafting imaginative dioramas depicting various Southwest regions of the United States. As part of their social studies curriculum, students researched states like Arizona and New Mexico, incorporating their findings into detailed landscapes featuring desert vistas and pueblo dwellings. The project, guided by their teachers, culminated in a vibrant exhibit where students proudly displayed their dioramas, fostering a deeper appreciation for the Southwest's cultural heritage and natural beauty among classmates. Through this hands-on learning experience, students not only honed their research and artistic skills but also gained valuable insights into the diverse landscapes and cultures that characterize the Southwest region.
Geary County Schools USD 475 elementary and middle school students (third through eighth grade) have been making big gains in math since 2019.
At our elementary school, the Little Lions Leadership Club, consisting of kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade students, embodies the core values of the LIONS Pride Pledge: Leadership, Integrity, Ownership, Nobility, and Service. Meeting during lunch, these young leaders brainstorm ways to improve the school and foster positivity. Guided by dedicated teachers, they organize events, create artwork, and perform acts of kindness, spreading joy throughout the school. Despite their young age, the Little Lions exemplify the power of leadership and inspire their peers to make a difference, showcasing the boundless potential within every student.
It was a banner weekend for the Junction City High School and H.D. Karns JAG-K programs at the Region 2 Career Development Conference as they qualified a total of 19 students for the JAG-K State Career Development Conference on March 20 in Hays.
